CNBC: This CEO is Revolutionizing The Way Employees Get Paid

Our episode on “The Job Interview” aired last night and we’re so humbled by all of the positive press and feedback. It was an amazing experience for our CEO, Ron Holt, and our Tampa franchisee, Dr. Jaime Kulaga.

The national television exposure for the brand has been amazing; with local, regional and national outlets reaching out for more information on the Two Maids & A Mop story. Just last night, CNBC published an amazing Q&A with our CEO & Founder. Here’s a quick hit from the article:

You are using a very interesting compensation plan of ‘pay for performance’. Is this plan unique to your company or is it practiced withing the cleaning industry as a whole?

It is very unique to just us. I started the plan many years ago, more than 13 years ago … and it was a result of desperation.

We were struggling early on in my business life and … I said I gotta figure out a way to get our employees to care without me being this drill sergeant because I can’t be inside every home every time. I had to figure out a way to scale this business beyond just me…I wouldn’t be able to talk to every new customer, so the genesis of the pay for the performance plan started after reading a book called the “Purple Cow”. It is just what it sounds like, if you were to see a cow in a rural area that was purple, it would be so different and remarkable that you would remember it forever.

So after reading that book, I started brainstorming and trying to create a way to create our own purple cow … so it hit me one day that we needed to align our employee’s interests with my own interests as the owner and allow customer feedback to directly control employee compensation. Every time we clean a home we give our employees a reason to care because customers are going to rate their level of satisfaction on a very simple scale from 1 to 10. It’s our purple cow. It was for sure a lifesaver for the business.

The episode will continue to air multiple times on CNBC, so make sure to check your local listings to see what all the buzz is about. And click THIS LINK for the in-depth CNBC Q&A with Ron.

The Two Maids & A Mop story was shared recently by our CEO & Founder, Ron Holt. Ron discusses his early beginnings with the original location and also talks about the never-ending battle to build the largest, most innovative residential cleaning company in America.

“My journey started a long time ago inside a 250 square foot office space. I can still remember the wood-paneled walls and cheap office furniture, ” said Ron Holt. “But it was my little baby and I just knew that the business was going to grow into a legitimate national brand. I’m so fortunate to have lived through those tough early days and humbled by our success today.”

Two Maids & A Mop Awards First College Scholarship

The success generated by our fast growth has created so many opportunities for our franchisees, franchise network employees and home office employees. A little over one year ago, we made a strategic decision to use our success in other ways beyond just earning profits. We wanted to give back to our communities by empowering the families of our franchise network employees. The first ever Two Maids College Scholarship was then born and a full year of applications from hundreds of people were accepted shortly after the inception of the program.

The 500+ employees working inside our franchise network have been anxiously awaiting to hear results from our initial round of applications. And just yesterday, we had the pleasure of awarding our first-ever scholarship to Megan Sandoval, the daughter of a long-time employee in Huntsville, AL.

Megan was shocked to hear the news and almost every emotion poured out once she learned of the scholarship. Local news stations heard of our story and were on-site to capture the moment when Megan received the big news. Check it out by clicking here: Two Maids Scholarship.

Two Maids & A Mop Featured in Franchise Business Review Magazine

Franchise Business Review, a leading magazine dedicated to the franchise industry, recently published an article detailing questions for a franchise candidate to consider when evaluating different franchise opportunities. We were honored to be included within the article and excited to share our thoughts. In our opinion, one of the least considered attributes of a franchise opportunity is its ability to compete locally. We’ve always considered our business model to be our best competitive advantage since it’s not only proven, but different. There are so many cookie cutter options in the franchise industry and Two Maids & A Mop stands out clearly as a result. From our industry-changing Pay for Performance Plan to our focus on digital marketing, we’ve never stood still for too long because innovation and disruption has always allowed us to compete against bigger brands with substantially bigger resources. This willingness to disrupt not only makes us different, it also makes us the best choice for the consumer….and ultimately the local franchisee as well.

Competitive Advantage: “Look for a franchise that offers a business model that is so remarkable that local competitors can’t compete,” says Ron Holt, CEO and Founder of Two Maids and A Mop. “In addition to identifying a proven business model that offers a unique selling proposition, look for an internal infrastructure that provides top-notch support and a profitable business plan that will enable you to achieve a healthy bottom line. Finding a franchise opportunity that meets each of these three characteristics will help ensure long-term success.” Two Maids and A Mop offers both an owner-operator and a semi-absentee owner investment model. Its owner-operators work from their respective offices, while its semi-absentee franchise owners work from their homes.
